MCAC announces 2026-27 basketball schedule

The return of Red River College Polytech Rebels basketball is set. The Rebels host the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers on Nov. 6 to begin their first MCAC season since 2019-20.
MVP LaRocque named female athlete of the week

Faith LaRocque delivered in the biggest game of the season. The MCAC women’s basketball player of the year is now female athlete of the week after leading the Providence University College Pilots to a 69-58 win over the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in the final on Sunday.
Pilots beat Blazers to complete perfect women's basketball season

The Providence University College Pilots came out with the perfect start to complete the perfect season on Sunday. After going 8-0 in the MCAC women’s basketball regular season, PUC scored 30 points in the first quarter and defeated the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 69-58 in the final on home court in Niverville.

Faith LaRocque has become a dominant force in MCAC women’s basketball, reflected in both her stats and her team’s record. The Providence University College Pilots’ star averaged 14 points, 7.1 rebounds and three steals per game while leading her team to a perfect 8-0 record.
Perpall named women's basketball coach of the year

Kendall Perpall knew he had big shoes to fill when he returned to Providence University College. The former Pilots men’s basketball player took over as head coach of the women’s team as director of athletics Joel Coursey stepped away from the coaching side of the program.
Girmay named female athlete of the week

Betty Girmay got it done on both ends of the floor on the weekend. The third-year guard from Canadian Mennonite University led a massive defensive effort to come back and beat the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges on Friday, then shot the lights out in Saturday’s rematch to win again.

Fans won’t have to wait long for a rematch of both MCAC basketball finals. The regular season kicks off where last season ended, with the Providence University College Pilots visiting the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers on Friday, Nov. 14.

Player of the year Briana Ehrmantraut put on an MVP performance in the biggest game of the year. The Canadian Mennonite University Blazers guard scored 30 points to lead her team to a 77-71 win over the Providence University College Pilots in the MCAC women’s basketball final on Thursday.

If anyone has an argument for a better rebounder in the history of MCAC women’s basketball, Oluwanifemi Gbadamosi would like to hear it. The fourth-year forward from Canadian Mennonite University brought down 41 boards in the last two games of the regular season, both narrow victories over Providence University College to take over first place and the right to host the final.

It didn’t take long for the first 30-point night in MCAC women’s basketball. Who else, but the reigning player of the year? Briana Ehrmantraut followed an 11-point, seven-rebound opener with 30 points, four rebounds and three steals as the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers started the season with two wins over the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges.

The Providence University College Pilots return to the site of their dramatic championship victory to begin their Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference women’s basketball title defence this year. The Pilots, who snapped the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers’ streak of five championships, visit the St. Boniface Les Rouges on Nov. 29, following three non-conference home games.
