The Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference volleyball season will open with a rematch of the 2026 women’s final. The defending champion Assiniboine College Cougars host the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers on Oct. 16 in Brandon.
The Assiniboine College Cougars are Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference champions for the first time. The Cougars defeated the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 3-0 to sweep the women’s volleyball championship series on home court.
Tyra Lasuik led the most powerful offence in MCAC women’s volleyball this season. The Assiniboine College Cougars setter averaged 7.68 assists per set while her team had a league-high .269 hitting percentage. Lasuik is the MCAC women’s volleyball player of the year.
Kevin Neufeld has taken the Assiniboine College Cougars to new heights. The longtime women’s volleyball coach took over at AC just a few years ago, turning a winless program into the top seed for this weekend’s championship series. Neufeld is the MCAC women’s volleyball coach of the year.
