Faith LaRocque delivered in the biggest game of the season. The MCAC women’s basketball player of the year is now female athlete of the week after leading the Providence University College Pilots to a 69-58 win over the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in the final on Sunday.
The Providence University College Pilots came out with the perfect start to complete the perfect season on Sunday. After going 8-0 in the MCAC women’s basketball regular season, PUC scored 30 points in the first quarter and defeated the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 69-58 in the final on home court in Niverville.
Faith LaRocque has become a dominant force in MCAC women’s basketball, reflected in both her stats and her team’s record. The Providence University College Pilots’ star averaged 14 points, 7.1 rebounds and three steals per game while leading her team to a perfect 8-0 record.
Kendall Perpall knew he had big shoes to fill when he returned to Providence University College. The former Pilots men’s basketball player took over as head coach of the women’s team as director of athletics Joel Coursey stepped away from the coaching side of the program.
