Memita named MCAC women's basketball coach of the year
Starting a program from scratch is never easy, but Harold Memita has taken the Université de Saint-Boniface women's basketball team a long way.
In his second season, Memita has been voted MCAC coach of the year.
"Harold's dedication and commitment to building this program have been truly inspiring," said USB athletic director Zoe Savoie.
"His relentless focus on recruiting, offseason development, and personal growth as a coach has been instrumental in this success. Harold's passion for the game is evident in the way he leads, pushing his athletes to not only improve on the court but to develop a deep love for the sport."
Memita led Les Rouges to their first-ever regular-season win, 61-56 over the Providence University College Pilots.
While they fell short of the league final, which takes place on Thursday as the Pilots visit the top-seed Canadian Mennonite University Blazers, Les Rouges are on track to make the league as competitive as it has been in recent history.
