Perpall named women's basketball coach of the year
Kendall Perpall knew he had big shoes to fill when he returned to Providence University College.
The former Pilots men's basketball player took over as head coach of the women's team as director of athletics Joel Coursey stepped away from the coaching side of the program.
It's safe to say he's off to a good start. Perpall led the Pilots to an 8-0 record in the MCAC regular season, and is the league's coach of the year.
"Kendall has done a fantastic job with his team. He has picked up where the program left off, put his own spin on things and took it to another level," Coursey said. "System basketball has lived on and excelled. His players have responded well to his coaching and they have shown it on the court. Kendall has led the team to their first undefeated regular season in the modern MCAC. The job is far from done, and I am sure he will have his team prepared for the weekend ahead."
The Pilots earned the right to host the league final and will take on the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in Niverville on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The all-conference team will be announced on Saturday.
