The return of Red River College Polytech Rebels basketball is set. The Rebels host the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers on Nov. 6 to begin their first MCAC season since 2019-20.
Tristan Gibbons was unstoppable on Sunday. The six-foot-seven forward dominated in the paint, recording 21 points and 18 rebounds as the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges won their first-ever MCAC men’s basketball title with a 79-64 win over the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers.
It was clear from the opening tip that the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges weren’t content with just making their first MCAC men’s basketball final. They were in it to win it all. Les Rouges led wire-to-wire on Sunday, defeating the undefeated Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 79-64 to claim the league championship at CMU on Sunday.
Braeden Fernandez has been one of the best players in MCAC men’s basketball for a few years, and now he’s right at the top. The Canadian Mennonite University Blazers guard was voted the league’s player of the year after guiding his team to a perfect 8-0 record.
