Neufeld named women's volleyball coach of the year

Kevin Neufeld has taken the Assiniboine College Cougars to new heights.
The longtime women's volleyball coach took over at AC just a few years ago, turning a winless program into the top seed for this weekend's championship series.
Neufeld is the MCAC women's volleyball coach of the year.
"Kevin has embraced the challenges and hurdles that go along with a two-year institution. He has invested in the growth and success of this program and to see the progress over the last couple of years is a testament to that. This season has been one for the books, from the athletes' recognition within the league to landing in the CCAA rankings for the first time in program history," said Cougars athletics manager Lindsay McLaughlin.
"His knowledge within the sport has been invaluable to the development of this program and this recognition is beyond deserved."
The Cougars went 13-5, securing the bye to the final, which starts on Friday against the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers at AC at 6 p.m.
The second match is on Saturday at 1 p.m. If the third match is necessary, it will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The winner joins the host Providence University College Pilots at CCAA nationals.
The all-conference team, player of the year and rookie of the year will be announced on Thursday.
