Fernandez named men's basketball player of the year

Braeden Fernandez has been one of the best players in MCAC men's basketball for a few years, and now he's right at the top.
The Canadian Mennonite University Blazers guard was voted the league's player of the year after guiding his team to a perfect 8-0 record.
"Braeden is a true floor leader. He leads by example," said Blazers coach Scott Martin. "He is well respected and liked by his teammates and had a strong season shooting the ball."
Did he ever. Fernandez led the league with an astounding three-point shooting percentage of 47.4, while sitting fourth in scoring at 12.6 points per game.
Fernandez averaged two rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game as well.
The Blazers are set to host the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges in the final on Sunday at 7 p.m.
