Peake named female athlete of the week
Kylee Peake has the Assiniboine College Cougars peaking at the right time.
The second-year left side led her team to a pair of 3-2 victories over the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers on Saturday, putting them in a great spot to host the MCAC women's volleyball semifinal.
Peake is the MCAC female athlete of the week.
"Kylee had her best weekend of the year leading our team to two hard-fought five-set wins on the same day," said Cougars head coach Kevin Neufeld.
"She is a top six-rotation player in the league and has been critical to our team's success."
Peake recorded 18 kills, three aces, two blocks and six digs in the first match, then 14 kills, four blocks and 10 digs in the second after Friday's road conditions led to the match moving back a day.
She leads the league in kills and digs per set with five matches to go.
The Cougars, who have a two-game lead over the Blazers for second place, are on the road Friday and Saturday against the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges.
