Pilots Negrich named women's soccer player of the year
Serena Negrich came into the MCAC as an immediate force and has only grown from there.
The third-year striker has been an all-conference women's soccer player and is now the 2025 player of the year.
Negrich scored nine goals and added four assists while captaining the Providence University College Pilots to a terrific 9-1-2 record, good for second place entering the playoffs.
"Serena is a true competitor at heart, and the type of player all coaches want to have on their team. She strives to be at her best and tries to learn and grow each and every day," said Pilots coach Tory Walker.
"Whether it be practice or games, Serena trains and plays hard. Serena also has a strong desire to put the team first and to do what it takes to serve and challenge the group. She is a captain on this team and leads with her actions and dedication to pushing this team to new heights. We are so happy to see her continue to grow and develop, and are so proud she is a Pilot."
The Pilots take on the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges in Saturday's semifinals at Cougars Field in Brandon at noon.
The Brandon University Bobcats host the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in the other semifinal at noon.
Sunday's final is at the Healthy Living Centre at noon.
