Week 4 (Sept. 28-Oct. 2) – 2022 MCAC Soccer Match Previews
Sept. 28 result: Providence University College (PUC) Pilots 2 Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges 1
The first upset of the week as Providence University College (3-1-2) secured a 2-1 road win over Université de Saint-Boniface (5-0-1) to snap Les Rouges five game winning streak and the Pilots earned their second consecutive victory to move closer to the top spot. PUC still has two matches for the remainder of the week while USB has one game left to be played this weekend.
Sept. 28 result: Brandon University (BU) Bobcats 4 Assiniboine Community College (ACC) Cougars 1
Second place Brandon University (4-1-1) scored four times for the second straight week against Assiniboine Community College (0-0-5). The Bobcats has now gained at least one point in the standings during the last five matches while the Cougars are still searching for their first win of the season. Kylie Van De Woestyne scored twice with single tallies by Émilie Dornez, Natasha Vermette for BU and Lichelle Martens added a goal for ACC.
Oct. 1: PUC Pilots at ACC Cougars – 3:15 pm CT start
This is the second game of the week for both teams. In addition, this will the first matchup of the season between both teams in 2022. Both teams are going in opposite directions as the Pilots look to build on their upset win early in week four and the Cougars would like to pull off an upset at home in this matchup.
Oct. 1: BU Bobcats at USB Les Rouges – 3:15 pm CT start
This is also the second game of the week for both teams. The defending champs Les Rouges and Bobcats play the second match of the season between the two teams that met in the 2021 MCAC Finals. In the first meeting of 2022, USB won 5-2 on the road. Plus, both squads are placed in the latest Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national rankings with Saint-Boniface at number eight and Brandon at 15.
Oct. 2: Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers at BU Bobcats – 3:15 pm CT start
Fourth place Canadian Mennonite University (1-0-4) has a chance to play a tired Bobcats team as they play their second match in 24 hours and third in five days while the Blazers have not played since Sept. 25. CMU leading goal scorers are Ayesha Umar and Chloe Boulet and they would like to snap a two game losing streak. BU have scored goals in bunches with Kylie Van De Woestyne (5), Kenadie Janzen (4) and Keashae Masters (4) plus Tarin Ballan (3) are in the Top 7 of conference goal scoring.
Oct. 2: PUC Pilots at ACC Cougars – 3:15 pm CT start
This is the third match of the week for both teams and playing back-to-back games over the weekend at ACC. Paige Heide leads with two goals for PUC while ACC has two players with one goal each this season.
