Boyes named women's futsal player of the year
Mackenzie Boyes is entering her sixth MCAC playoffs as a four-time champion with no intentions of staying at four.
The Brandon University Bobcat led her team to a 6-0-2 regular season, good for the top seed for the women's futsal playoffs.
Boyes is the MCAC women's futsal player of the year.
"Mackenzie embodies pure soccer passion. Highly competitive and fully committed to her team, she consistently gives her best effort on the court," said Bobcats head coach Diego Rodriguez.
"Each time she steps on the court, she brings intensity and determination. She continually pushes herself to improve.
"Her leadership and positive attitude elevate the entire team. Through her work ethic and drive, she inspires those around her and helps raise the overall level of play."
Boyes anchored the Bobcats defensively as they allowed just 13 goals in eight games.
BU takes on Canadian Mennonite University in the semifinals on Saturday, while the championship host Providence University College Pilots face the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges in the other semifinal.
The final is on Sunday at 1 p.m.
