Wasylik named female athlete of the week
Kalyssa Wasylik is eager to send her team back to the women's futsal playoffs.
After the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers missed the post-season last year, the fifth-year has them off to a stronger start with a 6-6 draw against the Assiniboine College Cougars on Sunday.
Wasylik is the MCAC female athlete of the week.
"I'm blessed as a coach to get the chance to once again coach Kalyssa as she closes out her college career," said Blazers coach Jason Moist, who has just returned to the program.
"She has always had the skill to beat players one-on-one, and I got a front seat to that once again this weekend, as she scored five goals over two matches. Truly a special performance."
Wasylik also scored the lone CMU goal in an 8-1 loss to Brandon University on Saturday.
The Blazers host the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges this Friday, while the Cougars host the Providence University College Pilots.
AC then visits USB while PUC visits BU on Saturday.
