Arevalo named women's futsal player of the year

When Kiyanna Arevalo ended up at Assiniboine College after her MCAC debut as a Brandon University Bobcat, she was determined to make an impact on the Cougars' program.
It's safe to say she has done just that.
Arevalo led Assiniboine to a massive win on the outdoor pitch, and now to its first-ever women's futsal playoff appearance.
Arevalo is now the MCAC futsal player of the year.
"She is a great player and a good person. Her aggressiveness and speed were of a lot of help," said coach Manuel Luben Lozano.
The Cougars finished 3-5-0, sweeping the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers to clinch the playoff spot while also beating the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges early in the year.
AC gets to play in a semifinal on home court.
Assiniboine takes on the top-seed Brandon University Bobcats in Saturday's semifinal at 3 p.m. Les Rouges and the Providence University College Pilots meet at 5 p.m.
The final is on Sunday at 2 p.m.
