Sydney Rudnicki, Futsal
Goals are hard to come by lately, making Sydney Rudnicki's weekend all the more impressive.
The second-year from the Université de Saint-Boniface scored a goal and assisted on her team's other three as Les Rouges collected four points to secure the top seed for the women's futsal playoffs.
Rudnicki is the MCAC female athlete of the week.
"Sydney continues to be a key player on the court, dominating the attack and playing a pivotal role in our defensive game," said head coach Tonya Derkson. "Sydney game after game consistently gets better and pushes the team to the next level."
Rudnicki had a goal and two assists in a 3-2 win over the Providence University College Pilots, then assisted on the lone marker in a 1-1 draw with Brandon University.
USB will play the #4 seed Canadian Mennonite University Blazers in one semifinal while the Pilots and Bobcats square off in the other in the playoffs on March 9-10 at BU.
Coming up this week, it's the volleyball final four hosted by Providence at Niverville's Community Resource & Recreation Centre.
The top-seed Pilots play the #4 Les Rouges at noon then the Blazers square off with the Cougars at 2 p.m.
