Doell named men's volleyball player of the year
Even though everyone knew Cole Doell was a key part of the Providence University College Pilots' offence, he was the most efficient attacker in MCAC men's volleyball this season.
The right side hitter led PUC to the top seed for the playoffs.
Doell is the MCAC men's volleyball player of the year.
"Cole's had an incredible journey at Providence and we are so proud of how much work he has put in to become the dominant force that he is," said Pilots head coach Paul Armbruster.
"Cole is an amazing blocker, powerful attacker with many shots and a strong server. Going from being a redshirt to MCAC player of the year is a testament to his work ethic, competitive desire and ability to grow and improve."
Doell averaged 3.05 kills per set and had 195 kills in the season, both second in the league.
The Pilots are hosting the best-of-three final starting on Friday against the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers, who beat the Assiniboine College Cougars in the semifinal.
The winner heads to nationals in Edmonton in two weeks.
