Martens named male athlete of the week

Markus Martens delivered in a big match for the men's volleyball playoff race on Saturday.
The fifth-year middle blocker from Canadian Mennonite University racked up 11 kills and seven blocks in a 3-2 victory over Providence University College.
Martens is the MCAC male athlete of the week.
"Markus is a steady contributor and a lodestone in both our offensive and defensive systems," said Blazers coach Jack Tyrrell. "He has been a workhorse since day one and brings a strong calming presence to the floor."
Martens posted six kills in Friday's 3-0 loss to PUC (9-5).
CMU sits in third place, with a playoff spot secured but a win back of Assiniboine College (8-4) and PUC for first place.
The Blazers and Cougars square off this Saturday and Sunday.
