Verdaguer named MCAC men's volleyball player of the year
Sebastian Verdaguer expanded his role without skipping a beat this season.
The third-year Providence University College Pilot split time at his usual middle blocker position as well as left side, doing both at an elite level.
The most efficient attacker in the MCAC, Verdaguer was voted player of the year.
"Seb has had a tremendous season for our team. He has grown and improved his overall skills and played both left side and middle for our team, which has been a very selfless act by him," said Pilots coach Paul Armbruster.
"His physical presence at the net is dominant and he is key to the program's growth and successes. He has developed in many ways on and off the court, and we have been blessed by all his vital contributions to our program and we are excited for his bright future."
Verdaguer hit .404 with 2.59 kills per set while also recording .72 blocks per set, both top four in the league as he led the Pilots to a 17-1 record and a bye to the league final alongside all-conference members Noah Boschman and Hector Ortiz.
The sold-out final starts today at Canadian Mennonite University against the host Blazers at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday's match starts at 1:30 p.m. If necessary, the third is Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
