Bobcats Camilo Rodriguez and Blazers Matheus Aquino selected as 2022 CCAA Men’s Soccer All-Canadians

A first time honour. Brandon University (BU) Bobcats Camilo Rodriguez and Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers Matheus Aquino are selected as 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Soccer All-Canadians.

This is the first time for Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) men's soccer players honoured with national All-Canadian recognition.

Rodriguez already earned 2022 MCAC Player of the Year and All Conference selection. The second year forward scored 15 goals (1st in MCAC scoring) while playing all 12 regular season games. In addition, the Brandon, MB native was Week 2 MCAC plus CCAA Player of the Week, plus added five multiple goal games with two games of three goals scored each.

"It is a great honour for Camilo, for Brandon University, and for the BU Bobcats men's soccer program," stated Glen McNabb, BU Bobcats Head Coach. "Every time we can have a presence at the national level it helps bring awareness to our program and helps build on what has been established. He has worked hard to improve his game and is very deserving of this recognition."

Aquino in his second year at the forward position played in all 12 regular season games with six goals – good for sixth in MCAC scoring and was also a 2022 All Conference selection.

"We are very happy and excited for Matheus and his accomplishments this season. He has impressed us from day one at CMU. He is a very good player with a strong understanding of the game and has a very determined and hard working personality, said Anderson Pereira, CMU Head Coach. "He always wants to learn more and to do more for the team hence he is already our captain on just his second year on the team. Again we couldn't be happier for Matheus, this is a great honour being one of the first two MCAC men's soccer players to be named All-Canadian and we know he deserves it."

Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges is the 2022 MCAC men's champion and at the Men's Soccer National Championship hosted by Langara College in Langley, BC running from November 9-12. Les Rouges' first match is Wed., Nov. 9 vs. Humber Hawks at 5 p.m. CT in the quarter-finals.
