Bobcats Camilo Rodriguez- MCAC Athlete of the Week for week ending Sept. 18, 2022

Another season and no change in his scoring prowess. Second year forward Camilo Rodriguez was instrumental in leading the Brandon University (BU) Bobcats to two straight wins in week two of the 2022 MCAC men's soccer season.

Rodriguez scored six of the eight goals by the Bobcats and began with a natural hat trick against Assiniboine Community College Cougars (ACC) Cougars on Sept. 14 in a 5-1 victory. The Brandon native scored in the third minute and potted all three goals by the 34th minute.

In the second match of the week, he added another hat trick with one goal in the first half and two more tallies in the second half in a 3-1 home win Providence University College (PUC) Pilots on Sept. 17.

Rodriguez now has eight goals (and five ahead of nearest player) in three games in 2022 and has followed up his rookie season when he notched 14 goals in 2021.

"Camilo's goal scoring ability is a tremendous asset, but it's also his passion for the game and drive to make his team better is what makes him a remarkable player," stated BU's head coach Glen McNabb.

The Bachelor of Arts student-athlete looks to keep scoring and help Brandon in a tight three-way battle for first place as the play in the rematch at ACC on Sept. 21.
