Fizazi named male athlete of the week

While a brick wall would be the ideal goalkeeper, Mohamed Fizazi is a close second for the Université de Saint-Boniface.
The third-year keeper handled two powerful offences on Sunday, leading Les Rouges to an 11-2 win over Canadian Mennonite University and an 8-4 win over Assiniboine College to keep his team perfect halfway through the men's futsal season.
Fizazi is the MCAC male athlete of the week.
"In this sport, having a great goalkeeper is critical. Sometimes, your players can be having a bad start but one or two key saves from your goalie wakes them up," said coach Seif Dhaoui.
"As a player, it also gives you reassurance to take risks and attack, knowing that if you lose the ball and get caught on a counter, you have a good goalie and the chances you concede are very low. Fizazi's quick reflexes and ability to lead from the back keeps getting better and we are delighted to watch him enjoy his last season with us."
Futsal action returns on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Assiniboine.
