Moreno named male athlete of the week

Matheus Moreno kicked off the futsal season with a bang.
The Canadian Mennonite University Blazers senior scored five goals on opening day, helping his team to two wins.
Moreno is the MCAC male athlete of the week.
"Matheus is, in my opinion, one of the best futsal players in the province," said co-head coach Anderson Pereira. 
"With a dedicated and talented group of players around him, I'm confident this is just the beginning of many outstanding performances we can expect from him this season."
Moreno scored a hat trick in the opener, a 9-0 win over Assiniboine College, then added two goals in a 5-3 victory over the Brandon Bobcats.
He anchors the CMU lineup from the back and steps up when necessary, scoring the first goal in both games on Saturday.
The next men's futsal action is Feb. 2 at the Université de Saint-Boniface.
