MVP Jean-Paul named athlete of the week
Reginald Jean-Paul still doesn't know what losing feels like.
The Université de Saint-Boniface rookie led Les Rouges to the MCAC men's soccer title, earning final four MVP as his team capped an unbeaten season.
The all-conference midfielder is now the MCAC male athlete of the week.
"Reginald came into the playoffs at top form as he's had a huge regular season. On top of his tactical awareness, he has great communication on the field and is very vocal, and is very solid," said head coach Seif Dhaoui.
"It's for these reasons that we say he is the kind of player that can't be measured by the basic stats of goals/assists or goal contributions, but we know what he brings to the team, which is impressive for his first year. He knows when to bring the ball forward and when to be patient."
Jean-Paul and Les Rouges are headed back to CCAA nationals after the team's first appearance in 2022. The event is running Nov. 6-9 in Fredericton, N.B.
