USB Les Rouges rally for four set win in Bronze Quarter Final match at 2022 WVB Nationals

In their first ever Nationals appearance at the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Volleyball National Championship hosted by Holland College (Charlottetown, PE), the MCAC representative and 2021-22 conference champion USB Les Rouges rebounded with a four set victory over Holland Hurricanes in Bronze Quarter Final match on Saturday, March 26.

With the victory, Les Rouges will now face the loser of the VIU Mariners and Red Deer Queens match (which was Red Deer that lost 3-0) in the Bronze semi-final match on Sunday, March 27 at 8 am CT. USB earned their first ever win at the Nationals in the program’s history and still have an opportunity to win a bronze medal.

USB rallied after starting to the Nationals with a three set loss to Douglas Royals in the last match held on Friday, March 25.

Les Rouges won 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 30-28) against the Hurricanes and rattled off three straight set wins after down 1-0 to begin the contest.

Left side Val Gonzalez led the way on the stat sheet with 17 kills and 17 digs while middle Brielle Grenier added nine kills and three digs and two service aces. Sophie Morrice also notched eight kills with 16 digs in the win.

USB setter Sam Lemoine was named Les Rouges Player of the Match after 38 assists, 10 digs and three service aces.
