7 Questions With…Josh Werbiski, CMU Blazers Men’s Volleyball, 2nd year middle/right side

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers captured back-to-back MCAC championship after winning this season and now are the MCAC representative at the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship. CMU faces Humber Hawks in Quarter-final match on Friday, March 25 at 7 pm CT hosted by Cégep Limoilou in Québec City.


1. Your goal for this season…And has it changed now?

Answer: My goal for the season was to win MCAC and to perform well at CCAA Nationals. Now that we’ve won, more of my focus is now on Nationals.

2. Thoughts on being part of Nationals this season?

Answer: An exciting opportunity to play and represent CMU and MCAC volleyball while also travelling.

3. When did you realize this team could do something special and make a championship run this year?

Answer: It didn’t really hit me until the drive back to Winnipeg that we had won.

4. Why did you choose volleyball as a sport?

Answer: I grew up watching my parent’s play in their Co-Ed league and had a good middle school program that introduced me to the sport.

5. Who is the joker/fun person on your team?

Answer: A lot of our rookies this year are jokers but I’d say Luke Janzen.

6. What are you listening to right now?…and/or pump up music?

Answer: Mac Miller and Kanye right now.

7. Best social media/website to follow?

Answer: @cmu_blazers
