7 Questions With…Brock Carmichael, CMU Blazers Men’s Volleyball, 3rd year left side

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers captured back-to-back MCAC championship after winning this season and now are the MCAC representative at the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship. CMU faces Humber Hawks in Quarter-final match on Friday, March 25 at 7 pm CT hosted by Cégep Limoilou in Québec City.


1. Your goal for this season…And has it changed now?

Answer: My goal for the season was to make it to CCAA Nationals. My focus now is to represent the MCAC as best as I possibly can in the National tournament.

2. Thoughts on being part of Nationals this season?

Answer: It means a lot being the first team to represent the MCAC on the national stage. It is a massive point of pride for us as a team, and we are extremely excited to be a part of it.

3. When did you realize this team could do something special and make a championship run this year?

Answer: I knew it right from the start. We have a very tight knit and hardworking group of guys, so I knew that if we stayed focused, and believed in ourselves, we could achieve great things.

4. Why did you choose volleyball as a sport?

Answer: I grew up watching my dad play senior men’s volleyball, and I think it kind of just rubbed off on me.

5. Who is the joker/fun person on your team?

Answer: That would definitely have to be Luke Janzen.

6. What are you listening to right now?…and/or pump up music?

Answer: Right now, I’ve been listening to a lot of Kanye West mainly.

7. Best social media/website to follow?

Answer: MCAC athletics for sure!
