USB Les Rouges beat Brandon Bobcats and PUC Pilots win over CMU Blazers at 2022 MCAC Women’s Futsal Semi-Final

At the 2022 MCAC Women’s Futsal Championship semi-final matches, hosted by Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges in Winnipeg, on Sunday, March 13, the top two seeds USB Les Rouges and PUC Pilots were victorious and will now meet-up in the Championship Finals later on March 13.

#1 USB Les Rouges vs. #4 BU Bobcats

The #1 seed Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges (4-0-0 regular season record) and defending champion beat the #4 seed Brandon University (BU) Bobcats by a score of 6-1.

The goal scores for host USB were Stéphanie Jones with two while Cassie Nazeravich, Sara Boissonneault, Émilie Lecuyer and Sophie Morham each added one. For the Bobcats, Ashley Robinson was the lone scorer.

USB extends their perfect season and now face the winner of the second semi final match. CMU ends their season with a 1-1-2 regular season record and 0-1 in the playoffs.

Player of the Match for USB was midfielder Émilie Lecuyer while goalkeeper Josie Black was selected for CMU..

#2 PUC Pilots vs. #3 CMU Blazers

In the other semi-final, there was a back-and-forth between the #2 seed Providence University College (PUC) Pilots and #3 seed Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers. PUC pulled away later in the second half to a secure a 5-3 victory.

Kathryn Tierney scored twice for the Pilots and Jessica Waytiuk, Paige Heide, Anna Green all found the back of the net once. Kalyssa Wasylik added two for the Blazers and Ayesha Umar with one in the loss.

PUC score early in the second after a 3-3 tie at half and then scored with 11 minutes left for the only scoring in  the final 25 minutes.

The Pilots are now on a two match win streak after a 2-1-1 regular season while CMU completes their season with a 1-1-2 regular season and 0-1 in post-season.

Player of the Match for PUC was defender Ava Temple while forward Kalyssa Wasylik was named for CMU.

The 2022 MCAC Women’s Futsal Championship Final, USB will play against Providence University at 3:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 13 at USB East Gym.
