6 Questions With…Sofia Ertulova, CMU Blazers Women’s volleyball, 1st year outside

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers are in second place in the 2021-22 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) women’s volleyball standings with an 8-7 record heading into the final week of the regular season. The Blazers want to defend their conference title (won in 2019-20) and will play at home against Assiniboine Community College (ACC) Cougars on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 6 pm CT.

QUESTIONS:

1. Your goal for this season…And has it changed now?

Answer: Improve as a team and on my own, hopefully getting to go to Nationals.

2. How difficult was it to return to conference play after year off due to COVID-19?

Answer: It was a little tough form wise, but it was thrilling to be able to compete and play with others.

3. Why did you choose volleyball as a sport?

Answer: I chose it randomly in grade 6 and then stuck with it because of all the benefits that came with it in my life. Some being the people I met, the life lessons and the experiences.

4. Who is the joker/fun person on your team?

Answer: Sahra McKenzie because we have similar humor and she makes jokes in every situation (even if it’s the wrong situation)

5. What are you listening to right now?…and/or pump up music?

Answer: Rap music, especially Candy Paint by Post Malone has some good volleyball warm-up memories.

6. Best social media/website to follow?

Answer: Twitter
