Pilots Maddie Fehr is the MCAC Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30, 2022

After almost a two month break from conference play, the second half of the 2021-22 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) women’s volleyball season began as fourth year outside hitter Maddie Fehr was dominant for Providence University College (PUC) Pilots as they swept the weekend road series in the week ending Jan. 30, 2022.

The captain continued where she left off by leading the Pilots with 28 kills, six aces and a 2.1 passing average in improving PUC to a 6-5 record so far this season.

In the first match on Fri., Jan. 28, the Steinbach, MB native notched 12 kills, three aces and 2.0 passing average during a three game sweep of Assiniboine Community College (ACC) Cougars on the road. The next afternoon, Fehr continued with 16 kills, three aces and 2.1 passing average in another three game win.

“Maddie continued her dominant senior season against ACC this past weekend. She has been able to lead our offense all year and she took it to another level with her effective and efficient attack, stated PUC’s head coach Kyle Guenther. “In her fourth season, she continues to become smarter with her shots and find the open floor. She piled up the kills this weekend while also progressing her spin serve which created six aces as well. We have leaned on Maddie at times throughout the season and her presence on the floor gives everyone around her confidence to play at a higher level.”

During the weekend sweep, Fehr led all attackers from either side and only had one error in the Saturday matinee win.

The General Studies student-athlete at Providence will look to continue their winning ways as PUC host first place Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges on Saturday, February 5 at 6 p.m. CT.
