11 Questions With…Mylène Chabot, USB Les Rouges Women’s soccer, 4th year

Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges defended their MCAC championship this season and advances to the 2021 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship hosted by Humber College in Toronto from Nov. 10-13. This is the first time for MCAC representative at the Nationals.


1. Your goal for this season…And has it changed now?

Answer: My goal for this season was to win the MCAC and make it to Nationals! Mission accomplished!

2. Thoughts on being part of Nationals this season?

Answer: I am very excited and cannot wait to play! I am looking forward to travelling with the team and getting to play different teams. I am nervous but pumped for this new challenge.

3. How difficult was it to return to conference play after year off due to COVID-19?

Answer: It was definitely difficult since we were all rusty after not having played for a year. It was a bit of an adjustment but we were all so excited to get back on the field that it was certainly worth it!

4. Your greatest soccer moment so far?

Answer: Winning the MCAC Futsal championship in 2019. It was a very fun and exciting playoff weekend and it was the last social thing I did before COVID-19 hit.

5. Why did you choose soccer as a sport?

Answer: I chose to play soccer since it is an outdoor and team sport. I love being outside and getting to see my teammates. I also enjoy running around and passing the ball together as a team.

6. Who is the joker/fun person on your team?

Answer: Our team is full of jokesters but I would have to say that Cass (defender Cassie Nazeravich) and Sara (forward Sara Boissonneault) make a great comedic duo! They are both full of positive energy and never fail to make the team laugh!

7. What are you listening to right now?…pump up music?

Answer: Lately our team has been listening to songs from Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy. We also throw in some French songs like Ramenez la coupe à la maison by Vegedream.

8. Best social media/website to follow?

Answer: YouTube and Pinterest

9. Favourite TV show and/or movie?

Answer: My favourite TV show is Brooklyn Nine-Nine and my favourite movie of all time is Home Alone.

10. Did you have a soccer star that you admired growing up?

Answer: As a Canadian I always looked up to Christine Sinclair, an amazing player and leader. I also really admire players like Lionel Messi, N’Golo Kante and Antoine Griezmann.

11. When do you realize this team could do something special and make a championship run this year?

Answer: Honestly I knew it from the beginning. In past years we have had a really good team, which allowed us to be the reigning champions of the MCAC. This year we also have a really strong team and I knew that after a good pre-season we would win it all.
