Les Rouges Mylène Chabot is the MCAC Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 31, 2021

Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges finished the 2021 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) women’s soccer season by defending their conference championship. Fourth year winger Mylène Chabot completed an impressive championship run with a MCAC Championship Most Valuable Player recognition.

Les Rouges (9-2-1 regular season record; 2-0 playoffs) came into the post-season as the hottest team in the league and won both matches during the championship weekend as Chabot was a huge reason for the title.

In the semi-final, the Winnipeg native scored once and was dangerous throughout a 5-0 win over #4 seed Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers on Saturday, Oct. 30.

On Halloween, Chabot saved the best for last. She was dominant by scoring both goals in a 2-0 shutout win over the #2 seed and hosts Brandon University (BU) Bobcats in the 2021 MCAC Women’s Soccer Championship Final.

The USB Arts student scored from outside the box with a goal that the kept going and eluded the Bobcats’ keeper in the first half. Chabot then added another just after the 30 minute mark from a corner when she got a knee on the ball as it sneaked into the side post for the 2-0 victory margin. She was also USB’s Player of the Match.

With the championship, USB extends their unbeaten streak to 11 games (ten wins, one draw) as they head to the Nationals.

USB claims their second title in program’s history (2019, 2021) and now advances to the 2021 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship hosted by Humber College in Toronto from November 10-13.
