What a way to the finish the 2021 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) women’s soccer regular season. Providence University College (PUC) Pilots striker Makayla Myer capped off another strong season with a flourish in week seven.
The Pilots completed the regular season with a 8-0 home win over Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers on Sunday, Oct. 24 and Myer was involved in seven of the eight goals as she contributed a hat trick plus added four assists for third place PUC.
With the three goals, Myer added to her conference leading total as the fourth year veteran ended atop the MCAC goal scoring table with 14. This was the third year of the last four years that Myer led the MCAC in goal scoring.
“Makayla has been dominating here in the MCAC all four years as a Pilot. This year was no different. Makayla has been such a skilled striker for us and will be extremely hard to replace,” commented PUC’s head coach Tory Walker. “Not only is she great at putting goals up on the score board, she is also a fantastic teammate and leads on the field with her voice and positive attitude.”
The Surrey, BC native is in Social Sciences at Providence and seeks that MCAC title to add to her career accolades. PUC will take on host and second seed Brandon University (BU) Bobcats in one of the MCAC championship semi-final matches starting at 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, October 30 in Brandon.
