Quite an impact and statement win to launch the 2021 MCAC men’s soccer season.
Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges (USB) Les Rouges were led by rookie striker Franck N’Dia as he scored two goals in the season opening 9-0 road victory against Assiniboine Community College Cougars (ACC) Cougars on Sunday, Sept. 12.
This was the first conference game for USB in 687 days but there seemed to be no sign of rust from the team as they look to regain the conference title last held in 2017.
In his very first game with Les Rouges, N’Dia made a strong first impression by finding the back of the net twice in the first half of their inaugural match of this new campaign.
With the conference win, USB is logged into a four-way first place tie holding a perfect 1-0-0 record.
“We have a very skilled squad and lots of options at most positions,” stated Eric Lemoine USB Assistant Athletic Director. “Players are fighting for spots and Franck really rose to the occasion. He has a knack of finding himself in scoring positions and has the skill to convert.”
The University One student from Winnipeg is now looking to continue his breakout season as Les Rouges are back on the field for two more road games at Canadian Mennonite University Blazers (CMU) Blazers on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 3:15 pm CT and then at Brandon Bobcats (BU) on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 3:15 pm CT.
