Pilots sign newest shooting guard, Rioferio, for 2021-22 basketball season

Rioferio becomes the third signing for the Pilots women’s basketball team as she joins fellow Saskatchewanian Anna Cushon and former club teammate. She commits to a Pilots team that is shaping up to be an impressive group with high expectations for the 2021-2022 season.

Rioferio, a strong shooting guard, comes to the Pilots with a lengthly resume having been awarded high school MVP of her junior girls team along with the school excellence award. She was the 3-point shootout competition winner in both her junior and senior years. She was also recognized with tournament MVP awards at the Notre Dame and Moosejaw senior girls tournaments.

Rioferio expressed, “I am super excited to be able to play for Providence!” She continues, “I have already heard a lot of positives and it seems like such an amazing community, team and school. I can not wait to improve my game and experience the post-secondary level. I am excited to grow my faith while playing and learning at Providence. I am thrilled to take this huge opportunity and follow the plans God has for me at Providence!”

Besides basketball, Rioferio enjoys playing badminton, football and is often involved in her local praise and worship band in her hometown. She plans on studying in the Buller School of Business this fall.

Head coach Joel Coursey shared his excitement for his newest signing and for this year’s basketball season saying, “Kishi is a welcomed addition to our program. What stands out the most, is her excitement about joining us at Providence and her desire to learn and grow in a Christian community. She is an exceptional shooter from beyond the arc and has developed interior toughness through playing multiple sports like football. Kishi has had years of experience winning with her high school team in Estevan, where she played a big role in their program’s success. I believe Kishi will add to our team’s versatility and ultimately help us achieve our goals for the next four seasons. We are fortunate to have found her and we can’t wait for her to arrive in Otterburne!”
