CMU adds Siemens to 2021 women’s soccer midfield

Momentum is snowballing towards a full return to competition this Fall for CMU women’s soccer and the 2021 MCAC season. Today, the Blazers announced the commitment of Westgate Mennonite Collegiate’s Grace Siemens for the forthcoming campaign.

Siemens youth soccer career achievements include a WYSA City Championship with Lindenwoods C.C. and regularly competing with her Winnipeg-based high school program in the spring MHSAA season.

“Grace will be a great addition for us,” said CMU co-coach Cara Isaak. “We’ve been connected with her for over a year now and we’re happy to have her officially on board with us for next season. Grace, our current players and all the new faces coming in for 2021, have been together for team zoom sessions for a few months now and we are looking forward to getting the group together in-person in the coming weeks, to get back on the ball, and start rebuilding our fitness levels for the Fall season.” 

The newest Blazers’ midfielder says she is looking forward to the opportunity to continue developing as a player at CMU and is excited to be be part of a program competing in the MCAC.

The 2021 season will not only mark a return to competitive soccer in the MCAC after a year lost to the pandemic, it will mark the inaugural year of full membership for the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference in the CCAA. The national association (CCAA) stretches from coast to coast and includes five other conferences of membership; PacWest (BC), ACAC (Alberta-Sask), OCAA (Ontario), RSEQ (Quebec) and ACAA (Atlantic-Maritimes). The 2021 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championships hosted in November at Toronto’s Seneca College, will the MCAC champions competing on a national stage for the first time.
