Sport Manitoba reminds basketball coaches to complete Respect in Sport recertification

RE-CERTIFY NOW:  Sport Manitoba Coaching is reminding all Manitoba based basketball coaches on the requirement that all coaches have to complete the Respect in Sport (RiS) recertification All coaches in Manitoba at any level are required to certify every 5 years in the program.  Manitoba was the first province to make the RiS program mandatory and we are equally proud to be the first to make recertification mandatory.  Basketball Manitoba is proud to partner with Sport Manitoba and embrace the Respect in Sport program to help ensure a safe and positive sport environment for all participants.  There is no cost for Manitoba coaches to complete this program.

If you had completed the course in or before 2011 and to maintain your status as an active basketball coach in Manitoba, you will need to complete the new online course now.  The online course itself has been greatly revamped and updated since originally launching in 2007 and touches on new topics that coaches may experience in today’s game including social media, cyber-bullying, hazing, gender identification and more.  In all, the course takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to complete and can be completed in 20-30 minute pieces.
