Deadline for the Decision on 2020 MCAC Soccer Season Extended Until Sept. 16, 2020
The MCAC has decided to extend the deadline for whether a full MCAC season will be able to take place. The updated deadline will be Wednesday, September 16th.
The reason for choosing this date is that Public Health has made it known that they will make the decision to either change or maintain the Provincial Response Level as it coincides with the incubation period (14 days). Their latest announcement to maintain the current Provincial Response Level was made September 2nd and the next one should be September 16th.
At the moment, the Prairie Mountain Health Region has a Provincial Response Level of “Restricted” (orange) and it will need to be changed to “Caution” (yellow). The MSA also has set their Return to Play phase in that region to Phase 2, which does not allow for competition between teams.
We understand the uncertainty that comes with not having a final decision on the full season schedule but the MCAC is committed to making every effort to provide an opportunity for our athletes to play a full season.
If it is not possible to approve a full season on September 16th, then September 18th will continue to be the final date on which a decision will be made for a 50 per cent season schedule.
