Matheus Moreno had no problem finding the back of the net in Saturday’s 7-4 win over the PUC Pilots — he scored five goals in the match.
The win cemented the CMU Blazers as the only undefeated team left with a 5-1-0 record. The win is also the team’s fifth straight.
CMU head coach Anderson Pereira said Moreno brings a lot of talent, creativity and intensity to the team.
“When he is focused and brings his ‘A’ game, it is very hard to stop him,” said Pereira.
That “A” game was on full display on Saturday. Most of Moreno’s goals were created in the transition phase of the game, with Moreno and his teammates capitalizing with deadly counter attacks, Pereira said.
“We see his quality and talent as a player every time he steps on the court,” said Pereira. “… we are glad he was able to show it to everyone else last match.”
The third-year winger from Brazil, is enrolled in the business program at CMU.
The Blazers are back on the futsal court on Sunday, Feb. 16 to take on the RRC Rebels.
