Second year middle, Paycen Warkentin, continues to be a key player for the ACC Cougars. Warkentin slammed down 22 kills this past weekend in the team’s two wins over the RRC Rebels.
Warkentin led an attack that swept the Rebels in straight sets both games over the weekend.
“He had a strong performance with 22 kills over the weekend and also led his team in kill efficiency and blocks,” said ACC head coach Joel Small.
Warkentin had a strong game on Friday night, attacking at 47.6 per cent and serving up four aces.
He had a stronger night at the net on Saturday, hitting with a kill percentage of 66.67.
Small said Warkentin is a force on the court, but also has a good attitude off the court.
“He is an emotional player that gets the team fired up and focused on every play,” said Small. “Paycen works hard every day at practice to make himself and his team better.”
Warkentin is from Gladstone, Manitoba and is enrolled in the social service worker program at ACC.
The Cougars will look to keep the winning momentum going tonight, as they host the PUC Pilots in their final game of the 2019 calandar year.
