Eric Harder, a third-year striker, kicked off his 2019 season with the Red River College Rebels on a strong note. Harder scored three goals, his first ever hat trick, in the Rebels win over the ACC Cougars on Saturday.
Harder is from Riverton, Manitoba, and is enrolled in the Carpentry program at RRC.
The third-year striker now sits at the top of the MCAC top goal scorers list, but he said he wants to get into better shape for the teams next match.
“I didn’t really get tired this game, but I feel like against stronger teams, they’ll work me a little bit harder, so I want to be ready for that,” said Harder to The Projector, RRC’s student newspaper.
Being a veteran player on this Rebels squad, Harder also is a leader on the team.
“Eric, as a third-year student athlete, brings veteran leadership to the team,” said RRC’s athletic director, Shane Ray. “He is a positive influence and we are happy that Eric’s hard work is being recognized by the conference. He led the way against ACC with three goals and we look forward to seeing what the rest of the year will bring for Eric.”
The Rebels enter this upcoming weekend with a 1-0-0 record and will travel to face the PUC Pilots on Saturday, September 21 and will host the top-ranked USB Les Rouges on Sunday, September 22.
