On June 11, 2019 the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) was unanimously accepted as a probationary member of The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
As probationary members, all schools must compete with current CCAA teams in at least one exhibition game. This rule applies to both the men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball teams. If the CCAA is pleased with the MCAC’s competition during their probationary period, they will begin playing for the CCAA National Championship during the 2021-22 season.
MCAC teams played their first probationary games from August 28-31 against Olds College. The Université de Sainte-Boniface Les Rouges soccer teams took on Olds College on August 28 where their women’s team came away with a 1-1 draw and their men’s team fell 4-1.
The Providence University College Pilots hosted the Bronco’s on August 29 with men’s soccer being edged 3-1, and women’s soccer being held to a clean sheet, losing 3-0
Lastly, the Assiniboine Community College Cougars also played Olds College on August 31. The men’s team secured the MCAC’s first victory against a CCAA team, winning 1-0, while the women’s team lost 6-0.
