Chris Voth Named Head Coach of RRC Rebels Men’s Volleyball Team

Red River College is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Voth as Head Coach of the Rebels Men’s Volleyball team.

“We are very excited to have someone of Chris’s background join the Rebels team.  Chris is well known in the Manitoba volleyball community and his experience as a student athlete and as coach will provide our student-athletes the opportunity to excel on the court and the classroom.”

Shane Ray, manager of athletics and recreation services for Red River College.

Chris Voth is starting his first season at Red River College after recently retiring from his professional playing career. As a player he won back to back AAAA high school championships, played 5 years at The University of Manitoba (with his best finish being a CIS bronze), and then trained with the national team full time before crossing the pond to the European realm.

The first two years was in The Netherlands for Abiant Lycurgus where his team won the North Dutch Cup, Dutch Cup, Super Cup and the league championship. Afterwards he played for Lakkapää Perungan Pojat in Finland, improving from the previous year’s last place finish to 4th place in the league. After playing a year in Czech Republic, Chris went back to Lycurgus to compete in Champions League and eventually retire.

Chris has coached many different sports at all levels including badminton, squash and volleyball.

Voth had this to say “I’m beyond exciting for my newest chapter to be at Red River College as a Rebel! They’ve always been a competitive team and I’m enthusiastic to work with such great staff and athletes. I’ve always been passionate about trying to give back to the volleyball community within Manitoba and I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to do that. I’m looking forward to passing on all the knowledge I’ve accumulated over my career to the players of the next generation. It’s going to be an awesome year.”
