Congratulations to Torrez McKoy, guard for the 9-3 Red River College men’s basketball team, who is our male athlete of the week.

The University of Calgary Dinos transfer has been a critical new piece to the Rebels backcourt this season with the departure of Chris Demauleon-Bartolay. McKoy leads the MCAC in points and assists per game at 23.5 and 4.0 respectively.
In the first weekend back from the holiday break, he helped the Rebels split their series with the (9-3) Leech Lake Tribal College Lakers with 26.5 PPG and 11 RPG averages. He followed up his performance in this weekend’s sweep of the visiting Turtle Mountain Mikinocks (3-7) with 24- and 23-point performances.
“Torrez is an incredibly talented floor general for us,” said Rebels head coach Scott Kirkpatrick. “He sets the tone defensively for us on every possession with his ball pressure and rebounding ability. On the offensive end, he makes his teammates better with his creative playmaking and exceptional scoring ability.”
McKoy and the Rebels look to continue their impressive season this weekend as they visit the undefeated Sisseton Wahpeton College Mustangs (7-0) in South Dakota, US.
