Congratulations to Jessica Edel, second-year right-side for the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers’ women’s volleyball team, who is our female athlete of the week.

The Morris, Manitoba native is coming into her on during her sophomore season for the Blazers. She’s third on her team in both kills and solo blocks with 56 and 11 respectively, plus 53 digs on the year.
Since returning from the holiday break, she’s helped her top-ranked Blazers (11-1) build their winning streak to ten games totalling 39 kills, 26 digs and eight solo blocks over their four wins.
“Jess has become a well-rounded player,” said Blazers head coach Roy Rodriguez. “With her already strong offensive play, she has worked hard to be better on the defensive side in both the backcourt and at the net. Being an offensive threat while also defending, Jess has been able to help the team have success this season.”
This Blazers will travel to Brandon, MB this weekend to battle the Assiniboine Community College Cougars (3-9) with their games serving off at 6:00PM on Friday and 12:00PM on Saturday.
