Congratulations to Jordan Lawson, third-year forward and team captain of the Providence Pilots men’s basketball team, who is our male athlete of the week.

Lawson, a native of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, hardly left the court this weekend averaging 36.5 minutes per game in the Pilots double-header against the Association Free Lutheran Bible School Conquerors (AFLBS).
The Pilots split the weekend series with AFLBS, winning 95-87 on Saturday and falling 91-63 on Sunday, but Lawson made his presence felt notching 25 points, 21 rebounds and six assists through both games.
“JT is bringing to the court way more than just points or rebounds,” said Pilots first-year head coach Pierre Dubreuil. “His energy and determination to make his team better are inspiring for the players, especially for the freshmen.”
In the last two games, he did a huge job in stopping two key players of AFLBS, forcing our opponent to find new offensive solutions,” Dubreuil continued. “With his skills in basketball and his leadership ability, Jordan is the type of player that every coach wants to have on his/her team.”
The Pilots (2-4) will visit the 1-6 Turtle Mountain Community College Mighty Mikinocks (TMCC) this weekend in their last pair of games before the holiday break.
