2017 MCAC Women’s Soccer Most Valuable Player
Alex Berena, Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges
I am so happy and extremely proud of Alex that she earned this great honor. Her tenacity and competitive drive kept her motivated and focused and it’s seems this was contagious as she motivated her teammates as well pushed them to be better.
Alex started the season one of the most talented players in the MCAC but she continued to work and improved each week. She is a team captain that leads not only on the field but also helping out behind the scenes and away from the soccer pitch.
Alex is a positive but feisty player, consistently playing high level soccer and always trying to get the best out of here teammates. She is a joy to work with and we say often and we will say it again we are lucky have a player like her on the team. – Coach Justin Legare
2017 MCAC Men’s Soccer Most Valuable Player
Yahia Chihab, Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges
For those who have had the opportunity to see Yahia play, it probably did not take you long to see the technical gifts this player possesses. This was not always the case as he actually didn’t make the first USB team he tried out for, and for some players that would have been enough to quit the sport or never try-out again…but not Yahia…this motivated him. He worked so hard and spent many hours on his free time working on his game and came back and earned his spot the following year!
Since then he has been a dominate figure in the MCAC. I am extremely proud of Yahia and his accomplishments with his MCAC career and feel this honour of MVP is well deserved. Thanks for sharing you talents with us, we have had many successes together and hope we can celebrate one more after this weekend! – Coach Justin Legare
