The Canadian Mennonite University Blazers benefitted from a team-high 18 points off the bench from 3rd-year forward Will Switzer in Week 13, en route to an 87-70 win over University of Winnipeg College. Switzer also tacked on 8 rebounds during his 15:38 spent on the court, helping the Blazers maintain their 2 point lead on Providence in the standings and their 2nd-place ranking within the conference.
“Will is the consummate teammate” says CMU head coach, Billy Isaacc. “He often sacrifices his own personal statistics in order to help our team win. This past weekend, with a few injuries to our team, Will played a larger role. He aggressively looked for his own opportunities because that is what we needed from him to help us win.”
A 6’4” product of Sturgeon Heights Collegiate, Switzer is shooting 37.5% from the field so far this season and averaging 4.5 rebounds per game.
The Blazers currently sit 4 points back in the standings from the undefeated Red River College Rebels, and will look to shorten that gap when conference play resumes on January 11th when the Blazers are once again hosted by the Wesmen.
