6’1” right side Victoria King played a huge part in bringing home her Assiniboine Community College Cougars’ first MCAC wins of the season in Week 11.
The Cougars found themselves trailing in the first set of Saturday’s match against University of Winnipeg College before King went to the line and delivered 4 consecutive service aces, effectively changing the momentum of the game and finishing with a 3-sets-to-1 (25-12,12-25, 25-18, 25-20) win over the Wesmen. King had 11 kills on 21 attempts to go along with 3 stuff blocks.
The following day King strung together a line of 7 kills, 2 blocks and 2 more aces en route to another 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-20) win over the Wesmen, moving the Cougars into 5th place and just 2 points behind the next-best USB Les Rouges.
King is a product of Elton Collegiate in Forrest, MB, and is in her second season studying Social Service at ACC.
“Victoria is a physical presence for us on the right side. When she has a confident and aggressive approach she connects well with the ball and is tough to defend,” says head coach, Beth Clark.
Their two wins in Week 11 conclude ACC’s MCAC competition for the first half of the season as interleague play breaks for the month of December. The Cougars will look to keep things rolling when they host USB on January 6th and 7th in Brandon, MB.
