The growing pains for a brand new Les Rouges women’s soccer program have been minimal as they currently sit 3-0-0 on the season, good for nine points and second place in the MCAC. 5’8″ defender Deanna Demaré has a lot to do with USB’s success so far, helping St. Boniface blank Assiniboine Community College in Week 3 by a score of 3-0 and keeping Les Rouges’ current record perfect on the season.
Les Rouges have demonstrated a formidable defense so far this season having given up just two goals in three games in conference play.
“Deanna possesses an exceptional ability to read the play and intercept passes at the centre back position”, says Legare. “Her comfort and confidence with the ball allows her to create space and move the ball up field with ease”.
