El Mohktar Sefieddine named Week 5 Athlete of the Week

The Université de Saint-Boniface men’s soccer team hasn’t had much trouble finding the net in their 2015 season.

But one of their players making sure the team’s goals-against remains low is El Mohktar Sefieddine, the 2015 MCAC Week 5 Athlete of the Week.

Mohktar is one of those defenders that help stop offenses from scoring. He is a talented and aggressive defender that rarely loses a 50/50 challenge” says head coach, Justin Legere.

“He wins balls in the air and on the run with precision and strong tackles. He is a quiet and humble player with many talents and skills that would allow him to play almost any position or role for Les Rouges.”

St. Boniface sits in second place with one more game to play this Wednesday against Providence University College at The Winnipeg Soccer Complex. Already having secured the second seed qualifying them for this weekend’s Championship in Otterburne, Les Rouges hope to keep their attack balanced the way they have for most of the season. Sefieddine’s ability to read the opposing offense and cut off passing lanes makes the second seeded Saint-Boniface a very dangerous double-edged sword that will contend for the season’s top honour.

“He is one of our most consistent players and that is why I trust him with the duty of playing one of the more important positions for us as one of the central defenders for our team. He plays with heart and determination each time he steps on the field”.

Catch Les Rouges’ last regular season game at 6:00pm this Wednesday, October 21st, at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex and the 2015 MCAC Soccer Championship, October 25th-26th at Providence University College in Otterburne, Manitoba.
